Opportunity really does grow out of difficult times, as long as you keep a positive mindset and are willing to do the hard work.
Our story begins in one of the most difficult times that our generation has ever seen: the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2019 the two founding partners, Dirk Olivier and Hannes Venter, found ourselves in a sticky positions, both having been placed on short pay and even shorter hours. However, being the open minded and positive types, we decided that this was the opportunity we had always been waiting for. It was as if the universe has finally aligned and we could at last put the dream we had shared for years into action. We started looking for projects in and around Cape Town and before we knew it, had landed a sweet little Bakery in Sea Point and with that OVDS took off on its maiden voyage. Needless to say, the project was a major success and the client was delighted with how we managed to pull the project off while the whole world was on lock down. He was stuck in France so we has little choice but to get our hands dirty and take on the job as a TURN KEY fit out.
The hard work paid off and we have since grown into an established multi-disciplinary firm with the skills and knowledge to undertake projects of any size. With a passion for design and excellent knowledge of our tools, we now manage to produce world class architecture, serving high end clients as far as New York and Paris.
Sadly, Dirk has recently sought new opportunities, and although he still consults with us, is no longer an acting partner in the business. Instead, we have focused on perfecting a flexible, collaborative workspace, appointing skilled staff from top institutions and collaborating with a wide network of experts from various fields. This provides us with a unique ability to put together the right team of experts suitable to the size and type of project at hand. Our core staff are permanent and keep the ship running, while the network of freelancers, part time staff and external consultants offer the experience of a large firm, without the overheads that drive up the cost of the services we offer.
Today we are proud to say our staff are loyal, dedicated and most importantly... Happy. Which means no matter what your needs are, we will ensure the best and most creative outcome to take your project to the next level.
